Tax Collection Dates

• Township Winter Tax Bills are due February 14, 2012 (accepted thru 2/28/12)
• Township Summer Tax Bills accepted thru 2/28/12 (Int.& Pen)
• Dog Tags Available 12/1/11 - 3/1/12 (Rabie exp.date must be more than 30 days)
• If the 14th is on a Saturday or Sunday, the due date is on the following Monday

Taxable Value
This value is used to calculate your tax bill.

This value increases each year by the inflation rate, but not more than 5%, and not higher than the Assessed Value. The value of new construction is also added.

If a property is transferred to a new owner, the Taxable Value is ‘uncapped’ – made equal to the Assessed Value.

Assessed Value
This value is half of the fair market value of your property.

This value changes each year based on the expected sale price of your property. The assessor studies groups of actual sales in neighborhoods, taking into consideration the description of your property (land value, building age and size, etc.)

Dog Licenses

The Local Treasurer's Office will process dog licenses from December 1 to March 1 each year. When renewing your dog license, please be sure to bring your renewal card with you. If you have altered your dog since the last renewal, you must provide proof of same at time of renewal. *If your rabies vaccination expires within the next 30 days, you are unalbe to purchase a license until a new rabies vaccination has been given by your vet.

Between March 2nd and November 29th, dog licenses can be obtained at the Kent County Animal Shelter located at 701 Ball NE. You may also renew your license via mail by sending the renewal card and updated shot information along with your payment to the Animal Shelter. You can also renew your dog license online at www.accesskent.com. For a new license, please bring your proof of rabies vaccination and spayed or neutered certificate (if applicable).
